An example of a story that in this book would be about a girl who had her heart broken because her boyfriend decided that they best way for them was to end the relationship.
She said that she hated it and that she hated how she saw him so happy with other people and when he was talking or hanging out with other girls she would assume that they went out. She would throw herself to guys and try making him jealous. But one day she just couldn't take it anymore and she decided to call him and tell him that she didnt know how to be her without him. But they never went back out. She said that she was slowly healing and she started making plans with friends and how she forgot about him over time and there were even days she wouldn't think about him.
But now shes over him. This is just one of the many stories that are in this book. I would definitely recommend it to anyone at any age. But i would especially recommend it to teenagers because there are a lot of things that we can learn from them so that we feel better about ourselves and we know that we aren't the only people in this world going through this situation.
'Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul' was a beautiful compilation of short stories that I think every teenager can relate to, all the time. I'm almost positive that fifty years from now, if a teenager picked up this book, they'd instantly be able to relate to it. With that said, Chicken Soup wasn't always brilliantly written, but the thought was there. I wasn't expecting it to be out-of-this-world, because of course, it was written by teenagers for teenagers.

Stephanie Jones Short Stories As a young teenager, I remember reading the first editions of the “Chicken Soup” series. They were given to me by loved ones who wanted to make my teenage years as easy as possible. The “Chicken Soup” books were written to bring comfort (as actual chicken soup does) to different age groups and share the experiences of ordinary people to help readers to see that they are not alone in what they are dealing with.

I laughed, I cried, and even felt grateful to be able to look back and know I survived those times.

When I was younger, my sister introduced me to this book. I instantly denied it due to the fact that I always thought Chicken Soup books were for saps and stay-at-home mothers. But when there was a rough patch in my home, i needed something to turn to.
This was my turn-to guide. Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul is what I would call a teenagers dream for emotional support. From boys to divorce to death, this book covers it all.

One story I immediately turned to was Soul Mates. A quote that got me was, 'They'll never have to worry about their parents saying 'Don’t take it so seriously, its only puppy love.' 'After reading that, I was hooked. I quickly thought how much that quote impacted me. Another section of the book that had a huge impact on me was the 'On Learning' section. The passage I loved was called I Try to Remember. When reading it, I remember thinking about how so many people out there are affected by their lack of self confidence.
I also thought that if every person out there affect by that had a chance to read this, they'd be so touched! Just like me. To me, this passage was a new level for everyone to connect on. Finally, there was a poem in one of the back sections of the book called The Girl Next Door. What I felt while reading this section was pure terror. Well that may be a bit dramatic but I was scared.
I was scared about how everything was, is, and will always be changing. Change for me was difficult and still is. But just knowing that someone else was too helped me to feel less odd. Chicken soup for the soul is 101 different stories of love, life and learning. Some of the best selling authors wrote in this book such as jack canfield, mark victor Hanson, and Kimberly kirburger. The book also featured authors my age and younger that I can relate to.
Chapters in the book were styled with poems. The section on relationships had a poem by kaleel Jamison. When I finished this book I walked away with a lot of lessons learned. So overall it was an excellent book. Bestselling authors as well as celebrities such as NSYNC, Bill Cosby, and even Jennifer Love Hewitt. Contributed to making what is now a series of the chicken noodle soup book for the soul.
What I liked the most was that their were authors my age writing about things that related to the problems in my life. Their were also very young authors which really made me realized that you can write a great story about your life no matter how old you are.
There were also celebrities that wrote in the book as well and they also wrote about stuff that I really related to. Reading this book I learned that anybody any age can tell a story and express their feeling through writing.
Achieving dreams, friendship, attitude and perspective, love and life were on a few of the chapter themes in the book. Each chapter was laced with a poem to express the theme. My favorite poem was about friendship. Each poem gave the chapter the perfect introduction as to what the chapter was going to be about. The chapter was filled with stories from different authors writing about the theme.
Stories told by real people talking about their life stories and situations. I thing these chapters are were designed to somehow connect with the readers individual life situations and fell them in with some kind of comfort to let them know that theirs other people out there going through or previously went through the same thing. After reading the book I had learned so many things and even mentally reinforced some of the morals that I was already accustomed to. One of the thing I learned from this book was to cherish life and live each day as if it were your last because you never know what the next day can bring. The back of the book features a couple of pages that have lists of lessons learned throughout the book.
In conclusion I really enjoyed the books various authors, styled chapters, and the many lessons I learned. Each version of these set of books are made to touch a certain person. Make them open to new solutions and make them aware that many people experience exactly what their going through well you gotta experience the whole package so go get the book. This anthology had also been recommended to me by my pervious teachers and it was been such an inspirational and delightful anthology to read. Which category on the bingo board this book completes: This completes the category “Three poems or short stories from ONE anthology” I haven’t read many anthologies in the past so I was quite eagre to have a reason to be able to read one! I defiantly underestimated how good anthologies are as they are short stories put in a collection, which are usually categorised. The mass effect of all the stories put together gave me a stronger message to take in and remember.
My favourite quote from this book (and why): My favourite quote from the story “Run with it” is “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are” This motivational quote was my favourite because it told me that I can make a change, and I can make it now. Not tomorrow, not next week, now.
We don’t need to wait for the perfect opportunity, we need to find the perfect opportunity. I have been given enough in life and I have the ability to use my resources as a way to make change or help another. What I have is simply enough and I don’t need to wait for the right moment, because the right moment is now. Something new I learned from this book is: From the story “ My Best Enemy” I learnt that we have to be open mined about our friends and whom we choose to be friends with. When I was younger I can recall almost picking the people I wanted to be friends with, when really the ones who are some of my best friends now are the complete opposite to my personality and me. We shouldn’t be fussy with what we what because we maybe missing out on something or someone great.
A character or setting in this book that was interesting to me (and why): In “Supper David” I found David interesting as he was a baby whom always smelt like mustard and I had to google what mustard was because has no clue and was delusional. David also runs around the house naked and I wish my younger sister would have been this cool. It was interesting reading these stories as an adult. They quickly took me back to the feelings that I had when I was younger.
You definitely see it differently now though! One story in particular, 'Losing the Us' was of a young girls experience going through her first love. Her feelings were honest and raw. I would like to keep this book on hand to help students if I know that they are going through a situation. The stories my help them understand that somebody else has felt the same thing. I think it would also be good to keep around as a reference for adults - so we can go back and remember. When I read this book, I had connected to it so much.

The good thing about this books is that they help you relate to the story without being afraid of being judge basically you are learning from experience of others. This is the exposition of the book. Conflict: There are many different stories in the book so I choose the story that has to do of a girl that has gone through so much in her relation with her bf.
Her bf dumps her but the thing is that she really likes him but he doesn't feels the same way toward her no more. She would try to do anything to get her attention, but at the end nothing that she would do would work to get her attention. This is the exposition of the story.
Climax: The climax of the story is when she finally realizes that what she is doing is not good. And she is finally going to make a change in her life. And she is finally going to stop to get the attention of her ex bf.
And move on with her life and just forget about him. Resolution: The resolution of the story is when the girl is finally planning to make a change on her life. And she does moves on and she stops being jealous on who her ex bf talks to. She also stops assuming things that might not be true. She also decided to tell the guy how she felt even though nothing happen and they didn't got back together.
And over time she was finally able to forget him. Theme: The theme of this book is basically a teenage book for teenagers.
And it helps you guide you so that you can not do what some teenagers that wrote some stories did. This book helps you guide you and it has a lot in which you can relate to. Each and every story talks about something different. I relate this book to other teenagers cause many teenagers go through some of the stories that this book has for teenagers. This is what the theme of the book is about. And this is why I compare it to other teenager's.

But Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul doesn't shy away from the big issues either, with essays on suicide, dying young, and drunk driving. This book stems from the knowledge that teens know their own concerns best—thus, much of the book is written by teens themselves, which gives the book a very accessible, informal tone. Also, the authors had each piece evaluated by as many teenagers as possible. The care shows. Teenage Soul is always respectful, and doesn't minimize any of the dramas of adolescence. It does, however, mete out plenty of perspective. This wise, tender, funny book is filled with wisdom useful to teens (and everybody else, too).
I really loved this book. I appreciated the fact that is was written by teenagers, for teenagers.
Unfortuantely, not all teenagers can turn to their parents for trials they are having. This book is a great way to get real world, positive advice for troubles that teenagers face every day. What I really admire about this book is the fact that the book is not censored to just the small issues of teenage life.
Teenagers are at the point in life when they are growing out of being innocent, naive children who are oblivous to most of the horrible things going on in the world, and growing into adulthood where we see bad things happen everyday. This book can help kids who are struggling with big issues such as suicide, abuse, and other difficult situations. I give 100% recommendation for this book to anyone who cares to read it. Besides, I'm pretty sure you all like the short reviews better.COMMENT DOWN BELOW WHICH YOU LIKE BETTER: LONG REVIEWS OR SHORT REVIEWS BECAUSE I AM THINKING ABOUT MAYBE NOT MAKING THEM SO LENGTH BECAUSE INSTEAD OF IT BEING FUN, IT HAS BECOME A TASK FOR ME AT SOME POINTS. I really liked the whole concept of this book. I thought that the title was clever and it really was helpful to me. I just became what we call 'a real teenager' (NOT 13) and I thought that maybe this book would help me to navigate this new world of adolescence.
It was definitely helpful to me. It was a compilation of stories and poems and essays by people who shared stories from their teenage life. It was split up into sections, such as Family, Love and Relationships, and so on; you know, all of the important things in a teenage life. I thought that the stories were definitely well-thought out and I actually enjoyed reading them for entertainment. I thought that they were interesting and some were surprising and some were funny and some were tear-jerking. It's crazy how these people actually did some of these things. I liked the whole idea of this.
After a time, it did start to seem like they were all variations of the same story but I still enjoyed reading through the whole thing. I actually just went from cover to cover instead of skipping around like the author recommended and I found that I liked the Love ones and the ones where they were 'going for it' the best. I would recommend this book to teenagers who are looking for something to relate to, to strengthen, or just to read.
Main Character: The people featured in the stories Sidekick(s): Their friends. Maybe the reader? Villain(s): VARIES Nonfiction Elements: All of this were real events and such. I actually read this book a while ago, in intermediate, and used to enjoy the short stories within. They were short and dramatic, perfect for my 11-year old self. I decided to re-read it because i knew it was good. This book is a compilation of short stories, with subtle morals for the average teenager.
This book completes the category: three poems or short tories from one anthology. I used to enjoy short stories, because they were an easy read, but now i prefer longer novels.

I used to enjoy short stories, because they were an easy read, but now i prefer longer novels. “Letting go doesn't mean that you don't care about someone anymore. It's just realizing that the only person you really have control over is yourself.” I liked this quote because it's so true. This was a turning point when she realised that although she thinks differently to another, it's not her place to rule over their life.
I learnt many things from these short stories. One moral i read about was respect. We must respect one another and every other person, because what we give is what we get back.
I also learnt many other things like the importance of relationships and love. Some may say this book is cheesy but it's really genius how Canfield incorporates morals into the stories, subtly and we realise these morals as the characters themselves do. One character i found interesting was the girl who was dumped by her boyfriend, then spent all her time trying to get him jealous but she eventually realises that she just needs to get over him. She spent so much energy on him, when she knew that their relationship was futile, and once she realised this, she is healing and ultimately, over him.
